Music Teacher
The Cambridge Friends School is seeking an elementary school Music Teacher for the school year 2010-2011. She or he will teach grades pre-kindergarten through sixth in small classes in a multi-cultural setting. We seek an experienced teacher who can help us to fulfill our mission to provide an outstanding education guided by Quaker principles.

The successful candidate will be:
• Experienced in designing developmentally appropriate curriculum for K-6 music program.
• Able to teach general music classes to grades K-6.
• Able to write narrative student reports.
• Able to demonstrate strong classroom management skills.
• Knowledgeable in the developmental needs of lower school students, as well as possessing a love of children.
• Excited about and committed to intense collaboration with colleagues with the goal of achieving the ideal learning environment for each child.
• Excited about the prospect of working cooperatively with all Specialist Teachers (e.g., Library, Art, Drama, Science, PE) to create interdisciplinary projects.
• Able to communicate effectively with parents.
• Excited about and committed to engaging students in projects that address socio-political issues and integrate service-learning experiences.
• Committed to scholarly ongoing self and professional development in regard to education, teaching and learning, learning theory, and equity.
• Committed to the creation and sustainability of an inclusive, anti-racist, anti-homophobic, equitable learning environment for all students.
• Committed to being a full community member by attending weekly faculty meetings and volunteering for duties outside of the music classroom.

Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in music education and several years prior teaching experience with this age level preferred.
• Strong vocal and piano skills.
• Training in and experience with Orff and Kodaly pedagogy.

3rd/4th Grade Teacher – Leave Replacement
The Cambridge Friends School is seeking a 3rd/4th grade teacher for an 8 to 10 week leave replacement starting mid-October of the 2010-2011 school year. She or he will teach language arts, mathematics, and history and co-teach science in a small class in a multi-cultural setting. We seek an experienced teacher who can help us to fulfill our mission to provide an outstanding education guided by Quaker principles.

The successful candidate will be:
• Experienced in the teaching of third and fourth grade curriculum.
• Knowledgeable about the developmental needs of elementary aged children.
• Committed to collaborating and being part of an educational team with the other grade level teacher and specialists in order to provide the best learning environment for each child.
• Experienced in providing students with highly effective and innovative literacy, history, and math experiences.
• Able to demonstrate strong classroom management skills.
• Able to communicate effectively with parents.
• Committed to creating a stable learning environment during the transition with the classroom teacher.
• Committed to the creation and sustainability of an inclusive, anti-racist, anti-homophobic, equitable learning environment for all students.

After School Teachers -- Lower School, Middle School (part-time)
Cambridge Friends School, a Pre-K through 8th-grade Quaker school, is seeking after school teachers for its extended day programs (grades pre-K – 8). We seek candidates with a strong commitment to, and passion for, elementary school age children. We are looking for individuals who will bring enthusiasm to the after school program and have the desire to work closely with colleagues to ensure an enriching and fun learning experience. Successful candidates will demonstrate their ability to implement a creative and developmentally based curriculum for children grades Pre-K through 5 or grades 6 through 8. Hours are from 2:45 – 6:00 pm Monday through Friday. Ideally, we are looking for candidates available all five days, but we are open to individuals who can work as many as three of those days.

Qualifications:
• Experience with children, preferably ages 4 – 14.
• Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities for children.
• Ability to communicate effectively with parents.
• Commitment to the creation and sustainability of an inclusive, anti-racist, anti-homophobic, equitable learning environment for all students.
• Course work in education preferred.

Physical Education teacher for the school year 2010-2011
Cambridge Friends School, a Pre-K through 8th-grade, is seeking a Physical Education teacher for the school year 2010-2011. We seek candidates with a strong commitment to, and passion for, elementary physical education. We are looking for an individual who will bring expertise and enthusiasm to P.E. classes and has the desire to work closely with teachers to ensure an enriching and fun learning experience. Successful candidates will demonstrate their ability to implement a creative and developmentally based curriculum for children grades Pre-K through 8, which incorporates skill themes, movement concepts, and sports skills. We seek an experienced teacher who can help us to fulfill our mission to provide an outstanding education guided by Quaker principles.

Qualifications:
• BA or advanced degree in Physical Education.
• Experience teaching elementary P.E.
• Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate physical education for children.
• Willingness to coach interscholastic middle school teams.
• Ability to communicate effectively with parents.
• Commitment to scholarly ongoing self and professional development in regard to education, teaching and learning, learning theory, and equity.
• Commitment to the creation and sustainability of an inclusive, anti-racist, anti-homophobic, equitable learning environment for all students.
